Bullying powers see mighty Iran, a "threat": Larijani
Tehran, Feb 21, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said here on Sunday that bullying powers see mighty Iran as a "threat", adding that Tehran is a friend to regional Muslim nations.
Addressing the Majlis Sunday session, he quoted the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as saying that the strategy of the Islamic Republic is to cooperate with Muslim states in the region and help promote regional stability and security.
He congratulated the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army for its recent victories in launching the powerful Jamaran destroyer in the Persian Gulf.
The first domestically made destroyer, Jamaran, was launched on Friday and joined Iran’s naval forces in the southern waters of the Persian Gulf. The ship was equipped with torpedoes and electronic radar. It is 94 meters long and more than 1,500 tons.
Referring to the recent disinformation made against Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, he said certain Western states, by focusing on the recent report by the new chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on The Islamic Republic’s nuclear activities, are trying to mislead the world public opinion.
Larijani reiterated that “the instrumental look at the agency would not bring any prestige to the world body and its management”.
The bullying powers should know that they cannot defeat the Iranian nation by such mischievous acts, he said, stressing that the Iranian people will continue their selected path.
Larijani said that the enemies will be faced with the resistance of the Iranian nation in their legitimate rights.
