Iran: ECO development is a priority

Tehran, Feb 21, IRNA – Interior Minister Mustafa Mohammad-Najjar said here on Saturday that the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) development is a priority for Iran.
Speaking with reporters after meeting with ECO Secretary General Mohammad Yahya Ma’roufi on Saturday afternoon, the minister said that in the meeting the two sides did some coordination to make commissions more active in different issues.
Mohammad-Najjar said for economic development activities a series of infra-structures is needed and one of them is security affairs which include issues such as ; fight against money laundering, drug smuggling, and organized crimes.
He referred to border guard coordination and stressed that members of ECO will have meetings in this concern, because exchanging experiences in this concern can provide an appropriate ground for activities.
The minister added that one of the issues for member states of ECO is confrontation with natural disasters and said that there exist good experiences in this concern for exchange./end
