SEMINAR ON INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN LAW KICKED OFF IN YEMEN



SANA'A, Feb. 20 (Saba)- A seminar on the International Humanitarian Law started on Saturday in Sana'a, organized by the Diplomatic Institute of the Foreign Ministry in cooperation the International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC).

In the opening speech, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Head of the National Committee for the International Humanitarian Law, Abu Bakr al-Qirbi affirmed the importance of introducing and raising awareness of the International Humanitarian Law.

He pointed out that this activity comes within activities the ministry is keen to implement to introduce dimensions of the IHL as well as its importance in correcting many issuing related to violations.

For his part, Dean of the Diplomatic Institute Abdul-Qawi al-Eiryani introduced tasks of the ICRC as it is an independent and partial organization active in providing humanitarian assistance for war victims and armed violence.

He praised cooperation with the ICRC in boosting Yemeni diplomats' knowledge over tasks of this committee and the IHL.

The seminar will continue for 3 days with the participation of a number of Yemeni and foreign legal experts.
