Iran will not surrender to sanctions: Former Malaysian premier

Kuala Lumpur, Feb 20, IRNA – Former Malaysian prime minister said Saturday the Islamic Republic of Iran will not give in to US pressures and sanctions.

In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi termed the sanctions as a meaningless issue at the present era.

On Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities, the former premier said gaining nuclear technology is among the legal rights of Iran and other members of the Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Supporting Iran’s nuclear program, Badawi appreciated the country’s efforts to use the program for improving welfare of its people.

Badawi referred to Iran’s resistance against the pressures, and said Iran is a good example for all world independent countries in fight for their rights.

About Tehran-Kuala Lumpur relations, the ex-premier said the two countries are enjoying excellent bilateral cooperation. He called for further joint investments in the fields of oil, gas and car making.

In reply to a question about the main problem of the Islamic world, Badawi said it is the issue of Palestine that the world Muslims have been concerning about it for years./end
