Ambiguity over death of person released from Kahrizak: Iranian MP
TEHRAN, Feb. 20 (MNA) – MP Parviz Sorouri said on Friday that the cause of the death of Ramin Aqazadeh Qahremani, who was kept in the Kahrizak detention center, is not yet known.
Sorouri had previously said that he had heard that a fourth person had died after he was released from the detention center.
The forensic evidence will determine whether or not Qahremani died due to the mistreatments in the detention center, Sorouri told the Mehr News Agency.
Sorouri said members of the Majlis fact-finding committee will hold a meeting with Qahremani’s family in the near future.
He also said the results of the committee’s investigations will be presented to judicial officials for further pursuit of the case.
The Kahrizak detention center, located south of Tehran, was closed on the order of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei because it was substandard.
The detention center came into the spotlight after it was revealed that three inmates were beaten to death there. Mohsen Rouholamini, Mohammad Kamrani, and Amir Javadifar were the three men who died at Kahrizak.
