INT'L CONFERENCE APPROACHES



Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ The "Globe International" NGO in cooperation with Paris-based media NGO "Internews Europe" are planning a three-day international conference themed "Empowering rural business development through quality information and ICT - Central Asia and Mongolia" with the financial support of the EU Asia Invest Programme in the framework of the “Business Roaming” project.
The conference will be held in Ulaanbaatar April 27-29 this year attractiing some 80 guests and delegates from Mongolia, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Russian Buryatia and Khalmykia and Chinese Inner Mongolia.
Main objectives of the gathering is to discuss the importance & role of information/media in rural development--roles of information services; exchange and cooperation between different actors involved in ICT information delivery; exchange between countries with similar context /demographic /economic/technical/ on providing market information to empower rural entrepreneurs and market development.
It also is aiming at evaluating the needs and issues faced by today's rural entrepreneurs (SME and herders) in improving their own livelihood and integrating the local/national/international economy to their needs, particularly in access to business information; and at sharing experiences on different practices and existing services of rural business information in these countries to answer the needs and issues of rural entrepreneurs; evaluating success and limits, exchanging ideas, and coming up to a common “best practice”.
