Qld coast braces for severe storms

Coastal communities in central Queensland are bracing for severe thunderstorms as a
system that caused flash flooding in the southeast moves north.
The Bureau of Meteorology says heavy rain and flash flooding is likely in parts of
central Queensland, including Gladstone, Rockhampton, Mackay and Yeppoon, on
Wednesday afternoon.
Southeast Queensland is cleaning up after the same weather system dumped a vast
amount of rain in the area.
On Tuesday, Brisbane's CBD received 120mm of rain - most of it in an hour-long
downpour that flooded streets, surged into buildings, disrupted public transport and
submerged cars.
Weatherzone.com.au said it was the heaviest 10-minute downpour the city had seen in
at least eight years.
