SAMA honored by UN

New York, June 24, SPA -- The Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA)
was awarded the United Nations General prize for launching electronic
payments system. SAMA's Governor Hamad Al-Sayari received the award
during a festive held on the sidelines of the United Nations World
Service Day here today.

Al-Sayari expressed happiness for the Kingdom's acquiring a
leading seat among the twelve state winners out of 40 contesters.
He pointed out that this is one of the fruits of the initiatives
of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz
Al Saud calling for development and reforms and his continuous
guidance to officials in the state sectors to raise the level of
services provided to citizens.

The system of reimbursement of payments that has been officially
launched in June 2007 renders services to citizens and residents,
facilitating payments of invoices and financial deserves
automatically provided through banking channels.
