HOUTHI GROUP CONTINUES VIOLATIONS; GENERAL MURDERED IN NORTHEAST REGION

JAWF, Feb. 16 (Saba) – The Houthi rebels have murdered a military general in northeastern province of Jawf, almotamar.net reported on Monday.

According to the mouthpiece of the ruling party, a group of five Houthi followers murdered Gen. Ali Jaraban, 51, at a checkpoint, when his fellows were having lunch . They heavily fired at the officer, according to the website.

Some violations have been reported since the ceasefire between the government and the rebels was announced last Thursday including bombing a court, water pump and some homes in Saada on Monday, according 26sep.net.

Still, the committees supervising the implementation of the ceasefire are continuing their job reopening roads, eliminating landmines and establishing peace in the region.

On Monday, local officials in Saada said that the Houthi rebels were not cooperative enough on the ceasefire terms, saying that their representatives were slow to cooperate with the committees.

However, the officials said that many displaced people returned to their villages as the situation started to return normal in general.
