Fiscal Policy Office: January revenue collection much higher than targeted
BANGKOK, Feb 16 (TNA) – The government announced net revenues of Bt110 billion in January, almost Bt18 billion higher than targeted, due to a continued increase in consumption and imports, according to the Fiscal Policy Office (FPO).
FPO Director-General Satit Rungkasiri said the net revenue collected in January totaled Bt110.09 billion, an increase of Bt17.81 billion or 19.3 per cent higher than targeted.
The top three revenue sources were collections of the value-added tax, the oil excise tax, and the vehicle excise tax.
VAT collections are Bt7.82 billion higher than forecast partly because gold imports increased for the second consecutive month. The oil excise tax collection is Bt4.34 billion higher than targeted due to the oil tax increase in May 2009, he said.
The net revenue collection in the first four months of Fiscal 2010 (October 2009-January 2010) totaled Bt458.91 billion, which is Bt85.33 billion or 22.8 per cent higher than targeted.
Top three departments for revenue collection are the Excise Department, the Revenue Department and the Customs Department, which realised Bt38 billion or 39.2 per cent, Bt35.96 billion or 13.1 per cent, and Bt7.17 billion or 28.4 per cent higher than targeted, respectively.
Given the continued increase in revenue collections in the first four months of Fiscal 2010 and the economic growth projection of at least 3.5 per cent for this year, Mr Satit said the FPO is confident that the government’s revenue collection for the entire year will reach Bt1.52 trillion, which is Bt172 billion
