HUMANITARIAN ACTIVITY DISCUSSED IN SAADA



SAADA, Feb. 15 (Saba) - Governor of Saada Taha Abdullah Hajer discussed on Monday with representatives of humanitarian aid agencies several issues relating to their activities and future plans in the province.

The governor was briefed on the nature and size of humanitarian activities and relief provided for the refugees from the recently-ended war including shelter.

Hajer stressed the important of coordination and cooperation among the organizations and the local government of the province in order to provide more assistance to the effected people.

He appreciated the efforts of these organizations in supporting the displaced people, assuring the province's willingness to provide all facilitates to the organizations.

During the meeting, Hajer also reviewed the activities of the Yemeni Red Crescent Society and Islamic Relief Organization. Furthermore, it reviewed the report of the society that noted there were about 46972 family beneficiaries at the refugee camps and other places where refugees are located.

For his part, head of the IRO's branch in Saada Saddam al-Udaini said that the organization is ensuring 300 orphans in Saada, giving monthly food rations for them provided by the UN World Food Program.

The organization intends to expand its activity to cover other displaced families, he concluded.
