Smith to visit Europe, UK

Foreign Minister Stephen Smith has announced plans to visit a number of European
countries and the United Kingdom.
Mr Smith left Australia on Sunday for the trip which will include Spain, Austria and
the Slovak Republic.
In Spain, Mr Smith will meet with his counterpart, Miguel Ángel Moratinos, to
discuss ways of advancing bilateral cooperation and building on high-level
engagement between Australia and the European Union.
Spain recently assumed the presidency of the European Union.
The trip will also mark the first visit by an Australian foreign minister to the
Slovak Republic.
Mr Smith will also visit London where he will attend a ceremony to mark the
centenary of Australia's diplomatic representation in the United Kingdom.
The Queen will attend a reception at Australia House to mark the occasion.
