Woman attacked by shark in Whitsundays

A woman has been bitten by a shark in the Whitsundays in north Queensland.
The woman is believed to have lost several litres of blood after being bitten on the
buttocks, a spokesperson for the RACQ-CQ Rescue Helicopter said.
Initial reports were that she was dragged under the water by the shark, the
spokesperson said in a statement.
The 60-year-old woman is in a serious condition, a Department of Community Services
(DCS) spokeswoman said.
The victim was attacked at 1pm (AEST) near Dent Island and is being transported by
dive boat to Hamilton Island, the spokeswoman said.
"She has severe lacerations to her buttocks," the DCS spokeswoman said.
"She is being transported by dive boat to Hamilton Island and then will be airlifted
to either Mackay or Townsville Hospital by CQ rescue."
