COASTGUARDS OFFICIAL: WE NEED ABILITIES TO SAFE COASTAL LINE
SANA'A, Feb.13 (Saba) - Head of Yemen Coastguards Authority (YCG)
Ali Rase'a has affirmed that the Authority has its own plan which is
being described as "strictly accurate" to safe the Yemeni coastal
lines, indicating that this plan needs abilities to be implemented.
He made clear to al-Seyaseyah daily that President Ali Abdullah
Saleh has ordered lately to buy ten new boats to reinforce
coastguards work, pointing out that the authority was able to safe
the coastal lines along with the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden and it is
currently working to safe line in the Arabian Sea.
During the last ten years, the Authority established several centers
as well as sending patrols in the regional waters aiming to reduce
illegally immigration to Yemen, indicating that the Authority asked
the government to boost its centers in this area.
Rase'a said that whenever Somali problems are increasing, dangerous
problems are increasing in the Yemeni coasts such as increasing
piracy acts andillegal immigration which reflects the increase of
Somali refugees in Yemen, affirming that the Authority exerted big
efforts to combat piracy acts during the last period and it wants
necessary efforts to fight this phenomenon.
This came upon his visit to Aden Coastguards Sector to check
security readiness of Aden coastguards as well as training and
rehabilitating Aden Coastguards Institute for the current
year, urging students to benefit from the military ships that visit
the Gulf of Aden, especially in training and rehabilitating areas.
