Deputy Interior Minister escapes assassination in Saada

SAADA, Feb. 12 (Saba) –
Deputy Interior Minister Muhammad Bin Abdullah al-Qawsi survived early Friday an
assassination
attempt that was blamed on the Houthi militants, almotamar.net reported.

My car came under a heavy shower of bullets while I was inspecting armed forces in
Saada in northern Yemen, al-Qawsi was quoted as saying.
On the other hand, a soldier was killed in Al Akab district, Saada, hours after the
peace deal, and others were injured when the rebels opened fire on troops.
The development comes though the rebel leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi announced he
ordered his followers on Thursday to respect the deal.
The ceasefire started Thursday at midnight, after President Saleh met with the
Parliament-Shura committee, formed early Thursday, to supervise the implementation
of the
ceasefire conditions agreed by the government and the rebels.
President Saleh briefed the committee on his order to stop the military operations
in the northwest region after al-Houthi accepted on Monday the peace terms and
mechanism
to implement them.
The deal ended a six-year war between the army and the insurgents that displaced,
according to the UN 250000 people, and in recent months brought in Saudi Arabia
after Houthi
infiltrators took Saudi lands.
