MOTOR BOAT SINKS IN MALUKU WATERS, THREE DIE
Ambon,Maluku Province, June 23 (ANTARA) - A traditional motor boat sank in Maluku waters and three people were killed, while five others reportedly missing on Saturday evening (June 21).
The ill-fated boat sank after it was hit by huge waves and had an engine trouble, Danrem 151/Binaya local military commander Colonel Inf. Yudi Zanibar said here on Monday.
The boat with 13 passengers on board was sailing from Nobar to Esulit, West Southeast Maluku District when the accident happened.
Joint search and rescue efforts managed to find five survivors and still looked for another five passengers who were missing, he said. Rescue efforts were hampered by bad weather and huge waves, he added.
