GENERAL GOVERNMENT BUDGET

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ In January of 2010, the total revenue and grants of the General Government budget amounted to 154.7 bln.togrogs and total expenditure and the net lending were 220.1 bln.togrogs representing a deficit of 65.5 bln.togrogs in the General Government budget overall balance.
The higher deficit by 36.7 bln.togrogs against the same period of the previous year was due to total revenue increase, which was by 11.1 point lower than the total expenditure increase.
The current revenue of the General Government budget amounted to 140.0 bln.togrogs and the current expenditure reached 207.7 bln.togrogs. Thus, the budget current balance was in deficit of 67.7 bln.togrogs.
Compared with the same period of the previous year, the tax revenue increased 49.4 bln.togrogs or 64.8 percent. This was mainly due to increases of 26.2 bln.togrogs in windfall tax revenue, of 8.2 bln.togrogs or 66.7 percent in social security contributions, of 10.4 bln.togrogs or 6.1 times in royalty, of 2.4 bln.togrogs or 9.9 percent in value added tax.
Compared with the same period of the previous year, the non-tax revenue increased by 6.9 bln.togrogs or 92.4 percent. This was mainly due to increase of 2.5 bln.togrogs or 6.1 times in navigation revenue, of 3.2 bln.togrogs or 78.3 percent in revenues from budget entities.
Compared with the same period of the previous year, the total expenditure and the net lending of the General Government budget reached 220.1 bln.togrogs increasing 107.6 bln.togrogs. This was mainly due to increase of 5.5 bln.togrogs or 14.2 percent in wages and salaries and 93.2 bln.togrogs or 3 times in subsidies and transfers, in January 2010.
In January 2010, spending of 10.4 bln.togrogs on capital expenditure was higher by 0.9 bln.togrogs or 10.0 percent over the same period of the previous year. Increase in capital expenditure was due to the increase of 1.0 bln.togrogs or 10.4 percent in domestic sources of the capital expenditure.
