Expatriate Bangladeshis bid farewell to envoy

DHAKA, Bangladesh, June 23 (BSS) - Expatriate Bangladeshis organized a function in Male to bid farewell to the outgoing High
Commissioner of Bangladesh to the Maldives, M Mijarul Quayes
yesterday.

A cross-section of Bangladeshis including teachers,
engineers, businessmen and workers attended the farewell,
according to a message received here today.

The speakers highly praised the role of the High Commissioner
for taking initiatives in enhancing the image of the country and
ensuring welfare to the expatriate Bangladeshis.

The outgoing High Commissioner thanked the members of
Bangladesh community in Male for their cooperation extended to
him during his tenure in the Maldives.

He also expressed his gratitude for organizing the event
which provided him a chance to meet the expatriate Bangladeshis.

Earlier, the High Commissioner paid a farewell call on
Foreign Minister of the Maldives Abdullah Shahid on June 19.

The Foreign Minister thanked the High Commissioner for his
contribution in strengthening relations between the two
countries.

He also hosted a dinner in honour of the High Commissioner of
Bangladesh.
