YEMEN EXPORTED 100,000 TONNES OF FISH IN 2009



SANA'A, Feb. 10 (Saba) - Fishery Wealth deputy minister Ghazi
al-Ahmar said in a statement to al-Wahda newspaper that the amount
of Yemeni Fish and Sea creatures exportation to international
markets reached 100.000 tons at a cost of $ 222 million in 2009.

The quantities were exported to more than 85 countries around the
world with Arab countries in first place, Asian countries in second
and European countries in third place, Ghazi clarified.

The Ministry approved closing the squid fishing season in Arab Sea
during February-May, the period during which fish reproduce.

Last year, Yemen exported 178,32 tons of squid at a cost of $ 47.7
million.
