Russian expert: Iran is not a threat

Moscow, Feb 10, IRNA – Russian expert in Economic Studies and International Relations Institute Vladimir Yociov, in a statement on Iran's 20 percent uranium enrichment operation, said that currently there is no threat from Iran.

In an interview with Russian State Radio "Voice of Russia", the expert said that 20 percent enriched uranium is not adequate for making an atomic bomb and for producing such a weapon, enriched uranium over 80 per cent is needed.

He said that Iranians are patriots with strong beliefs in Shia Islam and nuclear program has turned into a national honor in Iran and they are ready to tolerate many pressures in this concern.

The Russian expert said that Iran has started its enrichment operation in the presence of IAEA's inspectors, adding that the US and Israel cannot stop Iran's nuclear program because Washington and Tel Aviv are facing with domestic and international problems.

He continued that the US is facing with many problems in Afghanistan and Iraq and Israel is under international community pressure for its operation in Gaza./end
