MNOC'S VICE-PRESIDENT MEETS OUTSTANDING ATHLETE

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ A State Honored Sportsman and vice-president of Mongolia's National Olympic Committee (MonNOC) Ts.Damdin received Tuesday S.A.Belov, a former basketball player of the Soviet Union and Olympic champion of the 1972 Munich Olympic Games. The outstanding player is visiting Mongolia at invitation of Mongolia's Basketball Federation (MBF) to attend an opening of tournaments of the state basketball league.
This meeting has been held after 30 years since they met during the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow. Belov lit the Olympic torch at the opening ceremony of the 22nd Summer Games, and his basketball team won a bronze medal. In these Games, Ts.Damdin won a silver medal in the judo in the weight category of 65 kg. The Mongolian national team grabbed that time two silver and two bronze medals.
