MEETING OF NAT'L COUNCIL ON VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING


Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ The second meeting of the National Council on Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) was conducted at Nukht complex February 6-7, 2010.
The meeting was organized by the Millennium Challenge Account-Mongolia (MCA-M) Technical and Vocational Education and Training Project in cooperation with the Policy and Operational Framework Reform (POFR) project.
NCVET was established in order to support and manage the development of TVET system that is driven by market demands and supportive of Public and Private Partnership. The first official meeting of NCVET was held September 24, 2009. The current meeting involved 40 participants, including NCVET members, nominated chairs of the Sector Councils for Construction, Mining and Food processing, the project team and representatives of MCA-M.
During the meeting, discussions ran on rules and procedures for the NCVET and Sector Councils, their financing matters, work plans for 2010 and issues related to the National Agency for Vocational Education and Training (NAVET). The meeting facilitated the exchange of best practices related to private-public partnership methods and cooperation between NCVET and other key vocational education and training players as the NAVET, Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (MECS) and Ministry of Social Welfare and Labor (MSWL).
In addition to the regular meeting of NCVET, an award ceremony was organized to hand prizes to the winners of NCVET logo competition. The first place winner became S.Otgonsukh, a student at Art and Production School, the second place went to Ts.Oyundari, a student at Art and Production School, and the third place was taken by E.Solongo, a student at Mongolian-Korean Technological College.
