Jalili: Iran supports democracy in region
Tehran, June 22 (IRNA) - Iran's top nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili said on Saturday that Iran supports democratic process in the region.
Addressing the 8th Nurenburg Security Conference through a
video-conference, Jalili said avoiding any selective approach towards democracy is a kind of respect for democracy.
He said any decision on the G5+1 proposed package rests on the Supreme National Security Council and the approval of the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
Asked whether Iranian Majlis too will comment on the package, Jalili said the Majlis speaker is a member of the Council.
Elsewhere in his address, Jalili said that in Iran's defense doctrine there is no room for weapons of mass destruction and those frankly speaking of military threats should be accountable today before the world public opinion because they themselves use violence against nations.
