RI ENCOURAGING NORTHERN TERRITORY BIZMEN TO JOIN PPE 2008
Brisbane, June 21 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian consulate in Darwin is cooperating with the Australian state of Northern Territory in encouraging local importers to take part in the Trade Expo Indonesia (PPE) on October 23-27 this year.
"We are coordinating with the Northern Territory government to encourage local importers to take part in the PPE. Even they (the Northern Territory government) have pledged to open a stand at the expo if allowed by the event's organizing committee," the Indonesian consul based in Darwin, Harbangan Napitupulu, said on Saturday.
Napitupulu said he had proposed to the Northern Territory government to open an outlet at the PPE which had so far displayed Indonesian exporters' outlets only.
"The Northern Territory outlet will also function as a provider of information to Northern Territory importers," he said.
Asked to comment on Northern Territory businessmen' participation in the just-ended mining and petroleum expo in Indonesia's Balikpapan city, he said they were satisfied at the expo.
The Northern Territory trade and investment mission to the Balikpapan Expo held on June 19-21 consisted of 37 people including 22 from leading companies. They signed a number of business deals with their Indonesian partners during the expo, he said.
The 22 companies are among others engaged in the fields of mining technique, environmental consulting services, aviation services, industrial accreditation and expertise services, and motor vehicle equipment industry.
The others are producers of heavy-duty mining equipment, high pressure pipes and hoses, mining equipment components and pneumatic torque water.
Earlier, Executive Director of Asian Relations and Trade Division of Northern Territory, Brian O'Gallagher, said the mission was the biggest ever trade and investment mission from the Australian state to take part in an overseas expo.
Balikpapan expo is an annual event held since 2005.
