RI JOINS 'KIELER WOCHE' SUMMER FESTIVAL IN GERMANY

London, June 21 (ANTARA) - Indonesia , represented by the country's consulate general in Hamburg, is taking part in the 'Kieler Woche' summer festival in Kiel, Schlesweig Holstein State, Germany, from June 21 to 29, 2008.

Kieler Woche is one of the biggest traditional festivals in northern Germany, Chandra Gandasubrata of the Indonesian consulate general in Hamburg said here on Saturday.

The festival is highlighted with tourism and cultural promotions such as music and dance performances, and displays of traditional foods and handicrafts, he said.

This year's 'Kieler Woche' Festival is participated in by 150 participants from 32 countries, including Indonesia. German Chancellor Angela Merkel was scheduled to officially open the festival.

Indonesia's stand at the festival offers traditional food, handicrafts, and Javanese traditional music and dances.

On June 25 and 26, 2008, Indonesia will present traditional dances from Batak, Jakarta, and Bali, on the main stage of the festival.
