FOREIGN MINISTRY SPOKESPERSON ISSUES STATEMENT ON SUMO GRAND CHAMPION

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Mongolia regrets that the 68th Yokozuna Asashoryu of Mongolia announced his retirement, the ministry's spokesperson said in his statement Friday.
The statement said,"We highly value Yokozuna Asashoryu's considerable contribution to accelerating and deepening cultural and public communications between Mongolia and Japan and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.
"We understand the way the news about Grand Champion's retirement hit the mind and feelings of the two countries' public and mass media. Nonetheless, we do hope that this event will not affect the relations between the peoples of the two countries."
