Japan, Singapore Sign Revised Tax Treaty
Singapore, Feb. 4 (Jiji Press)--Japan and Singapore signed a
revised bilateral tax treaty on Thursday.
The revised treaty will enable the two countries' tax authorities
to beef up information exchanges and better fight tax evasion cases.
At a signing ceremony here, Japanese Ambassador to Singapore Makoto
Yamanaka said that the revised pact will strengthen the two countries' ties.
Moses Lee, commissioner of the Inland Revenue Authority of
Singapore, showed hopes that the pact will help promote bilateral
investment.
The revised treaty is expected to take effect in mid-2010 after the
two countries complete necessary domestic procedures.
