TEHRAN, Feb. 4 (MNA) - Pakistan’s National Assembly Speaker Fahmida Mirza started her four-day tour of Iran on Wednesday at the head of a senior parliamentary and political delegation.

Mrs. Mirza, who is visiting Iran at the invitation of Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, will hold talks with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, Vice President for Scientific Affairs Nasrin Soltankhah, and members of the Majlis women faction.

Visiting the shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad and touring the city’s cultural centers will be among other programs scheduled for the Pakistani delegation.

Mirza, a medical doctor, hails from a Sindhi-speaking Shia Muslim political family in Sindh.

She became the first female National Assembly speaker in Pakistan in March 2008 with the support of the Pakistan Peoples Party, the party of assassinated former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

Mirza has served three terms in parliament, winning the National Assembly seat in 1997, 2002 and 2008.
