Iran: scientists capable of conquering skies

Tehran, Feb 3, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Wednesday that the skies can be conquered by Iranian scientists.

He made the remark while addressing a ceremony to unveil several new satellites and various space technology achievements.

President Ahmadinejad who was speaking on the occasion of the National Space Technology Day, praised significant space achievements by the Iranian scientists in the past few years.

Lauding the self-belief and self-sufficiency of the Iranian researchers and scientists, he announced that many parts of the space satellites are fully produced inside the country.

He remarked that Iran’s space achievements can be considered as good lessons for other nations.

President Ahmadinejad voiced the government’s support for various aerospace activities, stressing that all efforts should be made to prepare the grounds for further development in that field.

Iran test-fired a domestically made satellite-carrier rocket on Wednesday.

The Kavoshgar-3 (Explorer-3) rocket was launched during a ceremony held to commemorate the 31st victory anniversary of Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.

The rocket is designed to send aerial images to ground and gather environmental data./end
