Four Thais, one Cambodian nabbed with drugs in Poi Pet
SA KAEO, Feb 3 (TNA) – Four Thais and one Cambodia soldier arrested with illicit drugs in Cambodian border town of Poi Pet, according to a Thai military officer.
Capt Chan Wongwaimatee, commander of Burapha Task Force’s ranger company said officials of Cambodia’s National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD) in Banteay Meanchey province had informed him that they have arrested three Thai women and one man as well as one Cambodian soldier with illicit drugs near a border casino.
Heroin, marijuana, an AK-47 assault rifle, 12 bottles of Ketamine and drug paraphernalia were found in the room.
The Thais were identified as Racha Tianngarm, 39, Rattanaporn (surname unknown), 25, Tim Rattanachompoo, 30 and Meechai Namkaew, 35.
All five persons including a Cambodian soldier were charged with drug trafficking, trading and taking drugs, they were detained at Banteay Meanchey police station.
Generally the Burapha Task Force Ranger company sets up a checkpoint at the entrance of Rong Klua Market near Ban Klong Luek in Sa Kaeo's Aranyaprathet district.
After checking information at the Aranyaprathet immigration office, Capt Chan said that no record was found of the four people, including border pass applications.
Therefore the officials assumed that they illegally entered into neighbouring Cambodia.
Capt Chan said he had informed Maj-Gen Valit Rojanapakdee, commander of the Burapha Task Force before leaving for Cambodia to cooperate with Cambodian officials.
Meanwhile, it was reported that the Cambodian soldier was officially dismissed from his job after the Cambodian drug suppression team had monitored his behaviour for quite a while. (TNA)
