Several involved in faeces attack at PM’s home: Police

BANGKOK, Feb 3 (TNA) – The initial investigation found at least three persons were involved in throwing faeces and fermented fish into the prime minister’s home, Metropolitan Police Bureau chief Pol Lt-Gen Santan Chayanont said Wednesday.

Gen Santan met with investigators Wednesday after bags of assorted foul-smelling excrement and fermented fish were thrown into the front yard of the premier’s home in Bangkok’s upscale Sukhumvit area on Monday.

Inspection of images from six surveillance cameras at Mr Abhisit’s home and four others in front of Sukhumvit Soi 31 found suspects on a motorcycle and in a car. They signalled one another when the mission was completed, the police general said.

The incident is definitely linked to politics, Gen Santan believes, but he declined to identify what group is involved as investigation is still underway.

Pol Col Sombat Milintajinda, superintendent of the investigation centre of Metropolitan Police Division 5 said footage from the surveillance cameras show another suspicious car.

He said police investigators would seek more help from Somchai Srisamajarn, winner of a popular television game show, who has extensive knowledge about various types of motorcycles to identify the motorcycle being used in the attack.

Security has been stepped up at the homes of the prime minister and other prominent figures after the incident. (TNA)
