Iranian official meets with Azerbaijan parliament speaker

Baku, Feb 3, IRNA – Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Hassan Qashqavi met with Azerbaijan Republic National Assembly Speaker Ogtay Asadov here on Tuesday.

In the meeting, which took place in the venue of Parliament (Milli Majlis) Asadov expressed hope that during his upcoming visit to Tehran, February 20-21, a new chapter of bilateral ties would open.

He also expressed pleasure with Iran’s action to cancel visa for Azerbaijan Republic citizens and considered the move as a motive to make bilateral relations more friendly.

Referring to the high potentials for cooperation and political intention of both presidents and senior officials of the two countries, he called them as an appropriate ground for developing ties .

The two sides also discussed bilateral and regional ties, necessity of increasing commercial exchange level and increasing visits of both countries' officials.

Qashqavi, who has been in Baku since Monday, also met with Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and discussed bilateral relations and free-visa regime by Iran and upcoming senior officials' visits of the two countries./end
