Mottaki discusses issues of mutual interest with Turkish PM

Ankara, Feb 3, IRNA – Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki in a meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed with him issues of mutual interest here on Tuesday afternoon.
Mottaki, who arrived in Ankara heading a delegation to attend the 21st joint economic cooperation commission, went to meet Turkey’s prime minister directly from airport.
In the meeting, which took an hour behind close doors, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, responsible Minister in Planning and Programming Organization Cevdet Yilmaz, who is head of Turkish side of the commission as well as Iran’s Ambassador to Turkey Bahman Hosseinpour were present, too.
Upon arrival in Ankara Airport, Mottaki underlined necessity of expansion of ties with Turkey and added that relations between the two countries are growing and constructive.
Referring to the emphasis given by both countries' leaders to necessity of deepening and expanding mutual ties, Mottaki said that in the new era of ties between Iran and Turkey, a new mechanism for follow up and implementation of agreements have been underlined by senior officials of both countries.
He added that during his 2-day visit to Turkey, he will negotiate with Turkey’s president, prime minister, foreign minister and minister without portfolio in joint cooperation commission affairs.
The joint economic cooperation commission will start its work on Wednesday February 3, 2010 here in Ankara.
Mottaki is also to meet with Turkey’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz on Wednesday afternoon and they will probably discuss the latest development in mutual cooperation in the field of energy.
He will attend a press conference with Cevdet Yilmaz to explain the results of the commission./end
