Larijani, Qatari Heir Apparent discuss issues of mutual interest

Tehran, Feb 2, IRNA – Visiting Qatari Deputy Emir and Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani discussed issues of mutual interest with Parliament (Majlis) Speaker Ali Larijani here on Tuesday.

According to the report of Majlis Media Department, in the meeting, Qatari Deputy Emir underlined that Iran has always been close to Islamic world and said that talking about issues like Persian and Arab or Shia and Sunni are a game played by alien countries and are totally baseless.

Ali Larijani said that Iran’s principled policy is to develop friendly ties with neighbors and added the late Imam Khomeini theory in foreign policy was Islamic unity and strengthening solidarity and cooperation among Muslim countries and now this is the strategy of Iran in Islamic world.

He called recent propaganda against Iran in the region as a political fraud and a futile claim and stressed that Iran has no problem with its neighbors and has never had any intention to invade other countries.

Creating disunity in the Islamic world with creation of faked antagonism is an old strategy of the enemies of Islam and regional nations, he continued.

Referring to the strategic ties between former Iran’s regime with the Zionist regime, Larijani added by victory of Islamic Revolution, defending the oppressed Palestinian nation rights and strengthening brotherly ties with Arab countries became Iran’s main foreign policy.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani called bilateral relations 'good and strong' and added that the outlook of friendly ties between the two countries are very clear.

He underscored that Islamic Iran has always been close to the Islamic world and stressed that our religion is one, so our enemy would be certainly one, too.

The Qatari crown prince also appreciated Iran’s stances in defending oppressed nation of Palestine./end
