Champassak earns 113 billion kip from tourism

(KPL) - In the first six months of this 2007-2008 fiscal year, Champassak has raked in 113 billion kip (US$13 million) from tourism.
The province has developed and introduced new tourist sites to attract both domestic and foreign visitors in recent years.

The Deputy Head of Champassak
Tourism Office, Ms. Mala Chanthalam, said early this week, "The province
earned two million US dollars from the visit of tourists during the
celebration of the Lao New Year in mid-April."

So far this year the province has welcomed 116,100 tourists including 33,600
local visitors and around 82,000 foreign tourists.
Champassak has 206 tourist sites including 40 historical tourist sites, 57
cultural tourist sites, and 109 natural tourist sites.

This southernmost province also has 33 hotels, 114 guest houses and four resorts in support of tourism.
