Everybody begins eating buuz. It is popularly believed that eating lots of buuz brings plenty of food and prosperity for the coming year. Anyone who finds one of the coins cooked into the buuz is considered lucky and will be a wealthy person that year.
It is customary for guests to take a spoonful of milk rice before they begin eating, and they continue to greet each other and give gifts, the valve of which is unimportant.
The eldest person is presented with a khadag, which is an expression of deep respect when people wish health and long life. Children are given sweets and toys. Mongolians usually do not like give gifts of dark colors and do not give a single item as a gift.
