Libyan leader: Iran, important to Tripoli

Addis Ababa, Feb 1, IRNA – Libyan leader said his country attaches importance to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Muammar Gaddafi made the remarks in a meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on the sidelines of the 14th summit meeting of the African Union in Ethiopia. The two officials held talks on the issues of mutual interest.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Mottaki conferred with the Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on the sidelines of that meeting. Mottaki said during his talks that Iran makes efforts to realize convergence of opinion among the African nations.

He also announced that an economic delegation will travel to Uganda soon for promotion of bilateral economic cooperation./end
