PRESIDENT MEETS HIGH OFFICIALS


Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj met Sunday Lawrence H.Summers, Director of the White House's National Economic Council for President B.Obama.
They exchanged views on the issues considered at the World Economic Forum (WEF) held January 27-31 in Davos, Switzerland. The former President of Harvard University Lawrence H.Summers is recognized as of the top three economists of the USA.
The State Head also met with a billionaire Bill Gates, founder of the Microsoft Corporation. The latter said he and his family are realizing charity initiatives and are investing the social, health and educational sectors. Mr Gates said at the WEF that he had decided to make USD 10 billion investments in protecting health of children and women living in poor countries. Elbegdorj asked him to focus educational and social activities on Mongolia, help Mongolian students get trained in the leading universities and work in biggest companies.
The President also met the Microsoft Corporation's Vice Chairman. Some matters were considered on opportunities to let Mongolian students directly use related programs, establish communication between Microsoft and Mongolia's IT universities and institutes, translate the Word 2007 office program into Mongolian language pursuant to a memorandum signed between Mongolia's Information Communication Technology and Post Authority and the Microsoft.
Mentioning about Mongolians who work for outstanding IT companies, the President thanked the Microsoft for employing the Mongolians.
The President was invited to the club of alumni of the Harvard University. A founder and Executive chairman of the WEF Klaus Schwab, a graduate of this university, and other alumni gathered in Davos. The Harvard's president Catherine Drew Gilpin Faust said she is proud of the alumni who became state heads, and invited Elbegdorj to visit again the Harvard.
The same day, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Swiss Confederation L.Orgil gave a banquet for the State Head. Present there were some 100 guests such as businessmen and investors that cooperate with and carry out activities in Mongolia. Leaders of France's "Areva" Group and India's "Middle" Company expressed their willingness to cooperate with Mongolia.
