ADB assures Bangladesh of continued assistance
DHAKA, Bangladesh, June 20 (BSS) - The visiting delegation of Asian
Development Bank (ADB) today assured Bangladesh of continued and
increased development assistance in future.
The assurance came as the ADB delegation led by the Bank's
Executive Director Sebastian Paust called on Finance and Planning
Adviser Dr AB Mirza Mohammad Azizul Islam at his office at the
Planning Commission here today.
During the meeting, Padma Bridge, power sector, rural
infrastructure development, food security and formation of a fund
on climatic changes came up for discussion along with other
economic issues, an official handout said.
Members of the delegation expressed their satisfaction over
the economic growth as well as the government's reform
activities, including the anti-graft drive, in Bangladesh.
They also appreciated the overall economic stability despite
the hike of commodity prices in international market, the handout
said.
ERD Secretary M Aminul Islam Bhuiyan and ADB Country Director
Hua Du, among others, were present at the meeting.
