President asks environmentalists to save Buriganga
DHAKA, Bangladesh, June 20 (BSS) - A six-member delegation of Samajik Paribesh and Manabadhikar Bastabayan Sangstha (SPMBS) called on President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed at Bangabhaban here today.
The delegation, led by chief adviser of the SPMBS Justice
Habibur Rahman Khan, apprised the President of different
activities of the organisation for the welfare of the people.
The President gave the delegation members a patient hearing
and praised the SPMBS activities.
He called upon the members of the SPMBS to expand their
social and welfare activities further and undertake initiatives
to involve more conscious people in their activities.
Professor Iajuddin suggested that the delegation take
pragmatic steps to protect environment, and save the Buriganga
river and make it pollution free.
Secretary of the President's Office Md Sirajul Islam,
Military Secretary to the President Major General Mohammad Ruhul
Amin and Press Secretary Abdul Awal Howlader were present.
