Bangladesh signs OIC revised charter
DHAKA, Bangladesh, June 20 (BSS) - Bangladesh along with Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia and four more member-states signed the revised charter of OIC, adopted at the 11th Islamic Summit Conference held in Dakar, Senegal in March.
Foreign Secretary Md. Touhid Hossain signed the charter in
presence of the representatives of 57 member-countries attending
the 35th Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) meeting in Ugandan
capital of Kampala, a foreign office press release said here
today.
Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, who inaugurated the
meeting at Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort, reiterated Africa's
support towards the cause of Palestine. He also urged the Muslim
world to take efforts for ending crisis in Sudan, it said.
The new bureau of the CFM was also elected at the meeting
with Uganda as the Chairman and Palestine, Syria and Iran as
Vice-Chairs while Pakistan as the rapporteur.
Foreign Minister of Uganda Sam Kutesa presided over the
inaugural session.
Bangladesh delegation also includes Director General Masud
Mannan, ndc, and Director Mehdi Hasan of the Foreign Ministry.
