Assault and hit-run sparks SA siege

An Adelaide Hills man who allegedly assaulted a woman, drove into a pedestrian and
holed himself up in his house threatening self-harm has surrendered to police.
Police say the string of events began with a domestic dispute in the streets of the
Adelaide Hills town of Aldgate just after midday (CDT) on Sunday.
The man allegedly assaulted a woman, then got into a car and tried to run over her
but hit a male bystander instead. The injured man was admitted to Royal Adelaide
Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A police spokesman said officers then went to the man's home at nearby Bradbury and
had been there since about 1.30pm (CDT).
She said the man had been threatening to harm himself.
A 41-year-old man was taken into police custody shortly before 6.20pm, the
spokeswoman said.
