GOVT TO LAUNCH SECOND PHASE OF NSW LATE JULY
Jakarta, June 19 (ANTARA) - The government is set to officially launch the second phase of a national single window (NSW) in late July or early in August coinciding with an ASEAN officials meeting here, an official said.
"Actually, the implementation of the second phase of NSW will begin in late June. But we will conduct the ceremony marking the launch of NSW in late July or early in August coinciding with an ASEAN officials meeting here," Secretary of NSW Team Edy Putra Irawady said on Thursday.
He said Indonesia wanted the development of NSW by all ASEAN member countries to grow at an equal pace.
"We will launch the second phase of NSW coinciding with the ASEAN meeting to enable fellow ASEAN member countries to measure the development of their systems. Based on an analysis, many of them have seen the different level of growth," he said.
Edy, who is also assistant for industry and trade to the coordinating minister for economic affairs said the second phase of NSW made progress compared to its first phase.
"For instance, importers other than 100 (importers given priority) have now enjoyed NSW while the number of state agencies participating in the system has increased to 10-15 from 5," he said.
"We will also try to integrate NSW at different ports so that their cargo clearance and goods clearance will be united under one system," he said.
In implementing the second phase of NSW, the government would also try to apply it to exports but this would be carried out carefully, he said.
"We will first make its design before we fully apply it in December 2008. We must be careful because exports cannot be delayed merely because of the application of the system," he said.
