AZERBAIJANI FM MEETS CHAIRMAN OF AUSTRIAN PARLIAMENT`S INTERPARLIAMENTARY FRIENDSHIP
Baku, June 19 (AzerTAj) - Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov met Wednesday with Karl Ollinger, Chairman of Austrian parliament`s Interparliamentary Friendship Group for the South Caucasus and Central Asia, who is visiting Azerbaijan to participate in the events to mark the 90th anniversary of the Azerbaijan
Parliament.
Mammadyarov highly assessed the level of Austria-Azerbaijan political ties, saying opening of the Austrian embassy in Azerbaijan would contribute to bilateral relations.
Karl Ollinger said Austria is keen on expanding economic ties with Azerbaijan.
According to him, increasing economic partnerships between the two countries provides opportunities for opening Austrian embassy. Ollinger stressed that existing conflicts in the South Caucasus pose threat to regional security and cooperation.
He was curious about the Karabakh conflict.
Mammadyarov said it is inadmissible that Armenia hides his aggressive policy behind the self-determination law, and that it is contrary to the international law and European values.
He pointed out cooperation is possible only after restoration of
Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.
Foreign Minister noted international community including European institutions can play a key role in settling the conflict and forcing Armenia to give up its aggressive policy.
