ARMENIAN GOVERNMENT SET TO ENABLE PRESIDENT TO WITHDRAW SIGNATURE FROM TURKISH-ARMENIAN PROTOCOLS
Baku 28, January (AzerTAc). The Armenian government is working on a legislation allowing President Serzh Sargsyan to withdraw his signature from the Turkish-Armenian protocols.
Vigen Sargsyan, deputy chief of staff to the Armenian president, told the Wall Street Journal that while Armenia`s government was sending ratification papers for the deal to parliament, it was also preparing the legislation to enable the president to withdraw his signature from the treaties.
“If this opportunity is lost it will push the whole region back, not to where we started when talks began but beyond that," said Sargsyan. He said trust between the two sides would be undermined.
