DEFENSE MINISTER IN GREAT BRITAIN


Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ Defense Minister L.Bold met Wednesday Mrs Tessa Jowell MP, the British Minister of Olympics, in London, UK. The Minister is in London to take part in international conference concerning Afghanistan issues to be held Thursday.
At the meeting, the Minister spoke about developing a cooperation with the British side in frames of the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games, and conveyed a request of Mongolia's National Olympic Committee (MonNOC) concerning the Mongolian national team's trainings for the 30th Summer Games.
Mrs Jowell thanked Mongolia for voting London at the Olympic bids, and said Britain would like to cooperate with Mongolia in a scope of the Olympic Games.
The same day, Bold met with John Grogan, a member of the British Parliament and chairman of Britain-Mongolia parliamentary group. They discussed the Mongolia-Britain relations and inter-parliamentary collaboration issues.
Then Bold met Yunus Qanuni, a Speaker of the House of the Representatives (the lower house of parliament of Afghanistan). During this meeting, the Minister expressed a hope that the conference on Afghanistan's matters would reach certain positive results. Mr Qanuni underlined a significant contribution of the Mongolian troops to peacekeeping activities in Afghanistan.
Other official meeting took place--with Charles, Prince of Wales; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; Alain Le Roy, Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations at the UN; Yu Myung-Hwan, South Korea's Foreign Minister; Kanat Saudabayev, Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan; and with T.Fukuyama, a State Secretary of Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
