Iranian and German troupes team up for joint performance
TEHRAN, Jan. 27 (MNA) -- An Iranian and a German troupe have teamed up to stage a play for children in the near future.
Entitled “Sultan and Kotzbrocken”, the Iranian stage artists Hamed Zahmatkesh and Mehdi Farshidi Sepher are accompanied by a German troupe that includes Bärbel Maier, Peer Damminger and Uwe Heene.
The bilingual production will be performed in Germany and Iran. Performances will be held in German, Farsi and a mix of both languages, depending on where the production is played.
The German theater troupe is now in Tehran rehearsing the play at the Honar Hall accompanied by the Iranian artists.
“I watched the previous work of the Iranian troupe ‘Cow’ at the Isfahan International Theater Festival for Children in 2007 which stood out from among other performances and met the standards for global children’s theater,” Damminger said, explaining about his motivations.
The play is based on a German story by the same name written by Claudia Schreiber and the theatrical actor Bärbel Maier dramaturged the play for performances.
The Iranian troupe will travel to Germany to continue their rehearsals this coming March.
Sepideh Khalili and Peyman Farjud translated the text into Persian for Iranian children.
The play will probably go on stage at the Honar Hall next summer and will also be performed in Isfahan and Shiraz.
The play is a German-Iranian coproduction of the KiTZ Theater Company from Germany and the Maani Theater Troupe from Tehran.
