Situation in Yemen not in Saudi Arabia’s interests: Iran

KUWAIT CITY, Jan. 27 (MNA) -- Iran's Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani called the current situation in Yemen not in Saudi Arabia's interests.

“We told our Saudi brothers cordially that what is being done in Yemen is not even in your interests; we said that straightforwardly” but Iran’s friendly relations with Arab Muslim countries will continue, Larijani said on his arrival in Kuwait on Monday.

Commenting on Saudi Arabia’s claims that Iran is interfering in Yemen’s affairs, Larijani stated that the enemies are constantly attempting to sow discord among Muslim countries.

Even deposed Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein tried to frighten regional Arab countries about Iran before his army invaded Iran, he added.

However, it became clear that Saddam’s Iranophobia strategy was a mistake, the Iranian parliament speaker said.

“In recent years, you saw that they… caused conflict and caused trouble in Iraq and other countries, and recently you saw that a cleric in Saudi Arabia insulted Ayatollah Sistani,” he noted.
