Cuban deputy foreign minister meets Iran's FM
TEHRAN, Jan. 27 (MNA) — Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcos Rodriguez who has visited Tehran held talks with Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on Tuesday.
Mottaki praised cordial relations between Havana and Tehran and called for strengthening cooperation.
He also hoped that the establishment of a joint diplomatic committee, chaired by foreign ministers from both countries, would pave the way for expansion of bilateral relations.
Mottaki said Tehran considers tightening diplomatic ties with Latin and Central American countries as a foreign policy priority.
He said close cooperation between the Islamic Republic and Latin American countries has angered the United States, he noted.
Marcos Rodriguez, for his part, called for expansion of ties with Tehran.
He also called for closer cooperation between Iran and Cuba within the Non-Aligned Movement and other international organizations.
Referring to the continued U.S. antagonism towards Cuba, Rodriguez said though it has been a year since Barack Obama took office, no significant change has happened in U.S. approach toward Havana.
