Tehran, Jan 27, IRNA – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei received Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abd Aziz here on Tuesday.
According to the Supreme Leader's Official website, in the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei said, "One day, nations of the region will certainly witness annihilation of the Zionist regime but the time depends on the work of Islamic countries and Muslim nations."
Ayatollah Khamenei added that cooperation and relations with Islamic countries is a principle in Iran's foreign policy.
He expressed hope that the visit could open a new chapter of developing cooperation between the two countries in all fields.
Referring to last year's decision of the Mauritanian government in severing ties with the Zionist regime, the supreme leader said," It was a good pattern for a number of Arab countries, because the Zionist regime is a big danger for Islamic world."
He expressed sorrow on the reaction of a number of Islamic governments concerning the Zionist regime's imposing pressure, blockade and genocide in Gaza Strip.
Referring to the greedy nature of western countries, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the west has never had the motive of helping Islamic countries and the US has always intended to establish bases for its military forces in Africa, which is a great danger for African nations and governments.
The supreme leader, by referring to the necessity of promoting Islamic countries international stances, said," For reaching such appropriate stances, the Islamic Umma should establish unity and brotherhood among themselves and never depend on international hegemonic powers.
President Mohamed Ould Abd Aziz, by referring to Iran's industrial, technological and scientific progress, called them as an honor for all Muslims and expressed his intention for expansion of ties with Iran in all fields.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also attended the meeting./end
